Semiosis of Meta-Abstract Symbols / Phenomenology of Freedom
2007 - 2023

The Project explores the semiosphere of closed systems within transnational corporations, where the iconic sign serves as a visual possibility for the emergence of new meanings – or of meanings existing beyond the visual code. One of the methods for discovering or generating such meanings involved the creation of new iconic signs aligned with meanings located outside the iconic system, with the aim of rendering them visible and revealing within them new, previously unknown qualities and states. The most effective instrument for these explorations appears to be the language of meta-abstract symbols – signs situated at the threshold of transition to another, more manifest semantic dimension.

Most of the works were created during years of research on the transnational oil and gas corporation bp, and as its aesthetic counterpart, its essential-semantic equivalent, they were presented as a form of exchange for the cessation of its operational activities – an artistic gesture that embodies the axiological groundlessness of the explored space.

Oil and gas empires are not the best place on Earth for the happy habitation of human beings.
